The American actress Amber Heard (34) testified in a lawsuit that she was terrified of death for her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
"He explicitly threatened me many times to kill me, especially later in our relationship," Heard said in a written statement Monday in London. The spectrum ranged from shouting to kicking to choking.
Both actors were personally in court again. Heard (“Aquaman”) also accused Depp (“Pirates of the Caribbean”) of being “very good at manipulating people”. He blamed a "monster" for his misconduct. Depp is one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood.
The 57-year-old is suing the British tabloid "The Sun" for an article alleging that he physically abused Heard. Heard and Depp have had a rose war in court for days: in a cross-examination, he accused his ex-wife of being violent. For example, she threw a bottle at him in an argument and thus cut off part of his finger. Another topic is his alcohol and drug use.
Depp and Heard had met each other while filming "The Rum Diary". They separated in 2016 after only 15 months of marriage.
Depp has also filed a defamation lawsuit in the United States over the allegations of violence. There he complains directly against his ex-wife. She had reported on her experiences of violence in the Washington Post – but without calling Depp by name.
