In an announcement at this time, the federal government mentioned that the apps have been being banned ‘in view of information available that they are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order’.

Notably, the event comes amid calls of boycott of Chinese items within the wake of the June 15 incident. The Centre and numerous state governments had earlier revoked contracts given to numerous Chinese corporations for a variety of tasks.
The two international locations have been in a standoff in Ladakh since early May.
