Former Melrose Place star Amy Locane, 48, may be sentenced to prison for the fourth time. The news portal "NJ.com" reports. Three previous judgments were previously rejected. Locane drunk caused a fatal traffic accident in June 2010, in which a 60-year-old woman died and her husband was seriously injured. Subsequently, Locane was first sentenced to imprisonment by a court for negligent homicide and assault, and was later imprisoned for around two and a half years.
However, an appeals court ruled in 2016 that the mitigating circumstances were not adequately explained in the reason for the judgment and the punishment was therefore too low. Two other judgments were overturned by appellate courts with similar arguments. A fourth procedure is now to provide final information about the sentence to be imposed. Locane's lawyer, however, has already argued that if his client had to go to jail again, it would be tantamount to a double punishment.
Locane is a mother of two
"It's hard to explain why mom could suddenly go to jail four years later. It's hard to explain to adults," said the lawyer regarding Locane's daughters Paige Cricket (13) and Avery Hope (11). An appeal would be made to the New Jersey Supreme Court if there was a new trial.
So far, however, no date has yet been set for the renewed procedure. The son of the victim family said about the back and forth in this case that the two and a half years in prison plus three years of probation was "a mockery of the judicial system". He and his entire family "lost faith in the world." The family entered into an out-of-court settlement with Locane in 2017 for payment of $ 1.5 million in compensation for the actress's insurance.
