As the Danish royal family reports on its website, Prince Joachim was in the late Saturday evening in the French Toulouse taken to a hospital.

"Immediately afterwards, the prince underwent surgery for a Blood clot in the brain, "it says on the page. The good news: Prince Joachim's operation was successful and the Royal is in a stable condition.

Prince Joachim has been living in Paris with Princess Marie and the children Henrik and Athena since 2019. From his first marriage to Alexandra Manley, he has two sons Nikolai and Felix. The latter celebrated his 18th birthday with the family in the royal residence Château de Cayx (southern France) just a few days ago. The family posted a photo of it on Instagram.
Prince Joachim is the younger son of Queen Margarethe II of Denmark, who is hugely popular with her people. The monarch turned 80 in April. The actual festivities – gala events, a horse-drawn carriage ride through Copenhagen and a large firework display in her honor – had to be canceled due to the corona pandemic.
