After finding the body of actress Naya Rivera in a lake in California, investigators commented on the cause of death.
The "Glee" star had drowned, it was assumed that there was an accident, the sheriff tweeted Wednesday night. The body was X-rayed and an autopsy was performed. There is no evidence of drug or alcohol influence. A toxicological test is still pending. Rivera's identity was confirmed by an examination of the teeth, it said.
The 33-year-old had rented a boat a week ago, according to police, to go swimming with her little son in Lake Piru, northwest of Los Angeles. Hours later, occupants of another boat found the four-year-old sleeping on board alone, no trace of the mother. After that, rescue workers searched for the TV star with divers, drones, boats and helicopters, among other things, initially without success. The body was discovered on Monday.
In the popular television series “Glee” (2009-2015), Rivera, born in California, played the bitchy and scheming cheerleader Santana Lopez, who falls in love with a classmate, but hides her feelings behind beastliness and arrogance.
