Entanglement: a complicated or compromising relationship or situation, or if you’re one of the millions of people who recently watched Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s almost 13 minute ‘Red Table Talk episode‘, it’s a way to admit you stepped out on your husband without actually saying that you… stepped out on your husband.
According to Deadline, preliminary numbers show more than 15 million people tuned in for the episode in the first 24 hours, making it the most views in a single-day period for a Facebook Watch original. The previous record of 7.6 million was held by the Red Table Talk episode featuring model and actress Jordyn Woods.
This time though, it was Jada herself in the hot seat. The actress decided to speak out, with her husband Will Smith, following a June 30 interview with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee, where 27-year-old singer-songwriter August Alsina confirmed his past relationship with the 48-year-old actress and mother of two, even saying he “truly and really, really, deeply loved and have a ton of love for her (Jada).”
MARRIAGE MISHAP: Jada and Will Smith reveal marriage trouble on Facebook show
Sitting at the red table, Jada and Will clarified that they specifically never said anything about the situation, but “now Black Twitter has claimed it as their business.” (Oops.)
They brought clarity to Alsina’s claim that Will gave the pair his blessing (to have an affair?)
“What August was probably tryna communicate, because I can actually see how he would perceive it as permission, because we were separated amicably,” said Jada. “And I think he also wanted to make it clear that he’s not a homewrecker.”
Jada immediately added that Alsina indeed is not a homewrecker… because she and Will were on a break.
Will also made Jada admit she was in a relationship with Alsina. This is where the “entanglement” comes in, with the Set It Off actress saying that she “got into a different type of entanglement with August.”
The Smiths are definitely in it for the long haul though, which they further proved by pounding fists and, through hysterical laughter, saying “We ride together. We die together. Bad marriage for life.”
