CHRON CONCERTS: Birthday Club sets a dreamy pop mood
The video drives home the point. It’s set in the Oval Office and features Hendrix as a clowning presidential figure with crazy hair. Sound familiar?
It was filmed in Houston at — get this — a private residence that Hendrix once played at for a private party.
“Was I ever in for a surprise when the host gave us a tour of his ‘man cave,'” Hendrix says. “It turned out to be an exact replica of the White House’s West Wing from the Obama Administration. Everything, and I mean everything, is an immaculate recreation down to the last detail. I thought, ‘This is the perfect song to parody the (expletive) show in Washington, D.C.”
Hendrix will premiere the “Unhappy People” album with a livestream-only show, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Mucky Duck.
