Presenter Sylvie Meis (42) and her fiancé, the artist Niclas Castello (41), want to say yes in August in Italy. "We are getting married in Florence, Italy is our favorite country," says Sylvie Meis in an interview with the magazine "Gala".
"I totally fell in love with the location, a beautiful boutique hotel with a fantastic view over the city. Very stylish and with a mirrored ballroom like in Versailles," enthuses Meis. So-called "boutique hotels" are personally managed, individual, small and rather luxurious hotels.
The wedding dresses
Because the wedding celebrations will extend over four days, "there will be four different outfits," said Meis. "On Saturday, the actual day of the wedding, I naturally wear the two most important dresses: the wedding dress for the ceremony and then the dress for the party."
Is her name Sylvie Castello after the wedding?
And what will her name be after the wedding? The question seems clear – and has been answered for all time: "I will never take the name of a man again. I am Sylvie Meis and very proud of it. When my name was Sylvie van der Vaart, everyone advised me: 'Keep the name ! ' I still accepted my maiden name again. If I was still called van der Vaart today, part of me would always think: You only succeed because you keep his name. "
Wedding had to be postponed
Sylvie Meis and Niclas Castello announced their engagement in October 2019. They actually wanted to say yes in June 2020, but because of Corona they postponed the wedding for a few weeks. It will be the second marriage for Meis. From 2005 to 2013 she was married to ex-soccer star Rafael van der Vaart (37). Together they have son Damián van der Vaart (14).
