Amidst questions surrounding the knowledge safety of customers at the Chinese video-sharing app TikTok, Mike Pompeo, the United States Secretary of State mentioned that his nation is ‘certainly’ having a look at banning the app, at the side of different Chinese apps that risk knowledge safety. In an interview with Fox News, Pompeo was once quoted as pronouncing, “I don’t want to get out in front of the President, but it’s something we’re looking at.”

India bans TikTok
On June 29, the Indian govt had banned 59 China-linked apps, together with TikTok for being a risk to nationwide safety. The Ministry of Information Technology, invoking its energy beneath segment 69A of Information Technology Act, with the related provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by means of Public) Rules 2009 has ordered a block on using 59 apps pronouncing that those apps are “engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order”.
Mike Pompeo applauds India
Last week, Mike Pompeo had reportedly applauded India’s transfer to prohibit TikTok. He said that India was once making sure its safety via a ban on Chinese apps. “We welcome India’s ban on certain mobile apps… (It will) boost India’s integrity and national security,” he was once quoted as pronouncing. In its defence, TikTok mentioned that it didn’t percentage person knowledge with the Chinese govt.
